|CR-1 Blast Cannon|
The CR-1 blaster cannon was a shotgun-like heavy blast cannon developed by Golan Arms.
Unlike traditional blaster rifles, the CR-1 fired multiple bursts per shot, adding to the weapon's destructive power but limiting its accuracy at range. The CR-1 featured a large energy chamber to generate the high amount of power required in multi-burst weapons, and was fitted with a shoulder stock to increase stability and limit the weapon's strong recoil. Although equipped with a scope, the CR-1 blaster cannon was rarely used at long range due to the tendency of bursts to spread considerably during flight. When carefully observed, the CR-1 have multiple nozzles for their signature simultaneous multi-burst effect, instead of the conventional one nozzle.
The cannon's use in the Clone Wars is relatively unknown; the weapon came to prominence because of its role with the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War. Due to the scarcity of independent arms manufacturers during the reign of the Galactic Empire, Rebel procurement officers were often forced to scrounge through captured weapons depots for suitable weaponry. While infiltrating a Golan Arms depot on Ac'fren Spur, Rebel agents found numerous serviceable weapons dating from the Clone Wars ready for use or modification. The CR-1 blaster cannons acquired at Ac'fren Spur were used extensively by Rebel forces, being prized for their tremendous close-range firepower but limited by their short supply and unusual power requirements.
